Secure PC Software

Secure PC software is a collection of computer programs that impact information security. These software programs can be used to detect malware and to protect against ransomware, phishing rootkits, backdoors etc. Security software for computers is a crucial tool for both individuals and businesses. It helps reduce risk and improve productivity. It is scalable, and works well in all types of environments. Its advanced features include an attack library that offers the best protection and prevention. It also lets you secure your data and cloud-based storage. Its user-centric design permits companies to monitor employee behavior and deter threats without slowing down the system or network down.

Get rid of unnecessary software. Intruders attack computers by exploiting weaknesses in software so the fewer software you install, the fewer opportunities for an attack. Review the software you have installed on your computer and eliminate any that’s not needed after analyzing it to confirm it’s safe to do so. Back up your files and settings before removing any software.

Use a standard account that is not an administrator for your everyday tasks. Only log into your account with an administrator account when it’s required to install or remove software or altering the system settings of your computer. This helps reduce the impact of a malware infection and also keeps your personal data secure from hackers.

Update your operating system or web browser, as well as applications. Updates to operating systems and apps often contain security fixes to stop hackers from gaining access to your data or damaging your systems.

Secure all external drives and portable devices. This will prevent anyone from accessing your personal or sensitive files in the event that they are stolen or lost. If you haven’t already, UF’s IT team will be able to enable this feature for laptops.
